Welcome to Florida International University Modesto Maidique Campus!

This is the outer facade of the FIU Bookstore, located at the Graham Center Building next to or across from the Blue and Gold Parking Garages

Here is the entrance to the bookstore from within the Graham Center, which, is where everything happens at FIU

Right across from the Graham Center bookstore entrance is this Information desk where they will provide you with a color map of he campus.

This is another view from inside the bookstore, taken from the 2nd floor veranda. Here you see the bookstore cafe, a Starbucks style cafe where you can sit and study while enjoying your favorite frap

From here you can see one of the bookstore's cashier desks, mostly used for the sale of commercial merchandise. Textbooks are located on the other side of the bookstore, where there are more cashiers.

The university's Patricia and Phillip Frost Art Museum is renowned local and nationally acclaimed artist exhibit their artwork there year-round.

One of the pieces from the exhibit "Taiwain Discovered: In Place and Time"

A mini-oasis of lush tropical vegetation is located behind the Graham center building. Students gather here to study and hang out during lunch.

The south campus' famous rotating cube! legend has it that during crunch time a student wishing to pass and do well on a difficult test must wish for it as he or she rotates it 3 times around its axis.

This is another example of the campus' lush vegetation.

Here's is yet another side of the Graham center. Behind this large window is the Atrium where Sebway and Einstain Brothers' are located. You can see the inside in the next photo.

Inside the Atrium the flags stand for all the nationalities represented within the FIU student body. In the first floor are Subway and Einstain Brothers and in the second floor you have the office of the Student Programming Council or SPC, which is in charge of organizing fun activities for students such as comedy shows and concerts with popular rap singers such as "Snoop Dog". At night the Salsa Club hosts free salsa lessons in the Atrium.

Here we can see another view of Graham Center and the Arium. the tables and the lawn are favorite hang-out places.
My favorite building in the campus. Though some might find it tacky I love the glittering color panels. This is FIU's architecture building.

Towering over the Graham Center's Atrium lies the imposing Green Library. It has 8 floors filled print and digital collections and resources.
Through the Green Library's main entrance we find Starbucks Coffee! What better place for this business than the library, where students pulling all-nighters can derive such great benefit from this humble outlet's caffeinated elixirs =)

Inside the library and behind Starbucks we find the TV room, where students gather to witness breaking news.

Between Starbucks and the TV room are the stairs that lead to the second floor. For some strange reason the elevator in the first floor is not open to the public. The main elevators begin on the 2nd floor and connect with all other floors up to the 8th floor.

Here is a large study hall in the 2nd floor of the library, next to the main elevators. There are similar study spaces in all other floors though for the most part these others are "Quiet Study" areas, whereas here in the 2nd floor students can talk among their study group: it can get quite noisy!

A view through the shelves on the 7th floor leading to the "Quiet Study" area on this floor. Through my years at FIU this was one of my favorite study areas, not only because its quietness affords one the most adequate environment fr solitary study but because its views of the campus and the city day and night are beautiful!

This is a view of the path leading to the University Towers building where the main Undergraduate dorms are located. Beyond the arch is a lawn where students love to sunbathe, and sunburn!

Here's the pool to one side of the lawn in the University Towers complex. As you can see, the student residents are enjoying Miami's early summer weather

Walking from University Towers or the Green Library towards the other side of campus one must cross the large pond in between using this tiny and quaint bridge, at which students often stop to feed the geese.

The "U.S. Century Bank Arena", an often re-named building depending on who is sponsoring the basketball team.
Across from the Arena is the Gym. Here we can see one of the workout rooms with running and wight lifting machines. there are televisions, music and a view. Every semester there are free and affordable yoga and aerobics classes held here. Also, there are indoor basketball and volleyball courts in the first floor, where the intramural teams meet to play.

Back by the Graham Center we find the shuttle bus stop where students catch a ride to classes at the Biscayne Bay campus, the other main campus location in the North of the city.

Across from the Modesto Maidique Campus there is shopping mall where students go to do their grocery shopping at the major super market chain "Publix" and pharmacy "CVS"

At the same shopping center students may catch some entertainment at the Roxy theater, an affordable theater where they have both movies and live comedy shows.

And if you're an out-state student at the same shopping mall you can get your Florida Driver's license!
